Prof. Stock is a Consultant Cardiothoracic and Transplant Surgeon at the Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Foundation Trust. In parallel to his clinical appointment he works as a honorary senior researcher of the Imperial College London at the Magdi Yacoub Institute in Harefield.
Professor Stock graduated in 1992 from the University Marburg in Germany and did his cardiothoracic surgical training in Hamburg, Kiel, Hannover and Jena in Germany. The surgical training was interrupted by a three years lasting research fellowship at Harvard University in Boston from 1997-2000. During this time at Children’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital he focused on Tissue Engineering of heart valves and blood vessels. Following his return Europe he continued research in tissue engineering and cryopreservation of heart valves. With board certification in cardiothoracic surgery and intensive care his main clinical interest are focused on end stage heart and lung failure. In 2017 Professor Stock joined the Harefield transplant team and continued his research at Magdi Yacoub Institute and Imperial College in London.
