The Magdi Yacoub Institute was proud to participate in the Heart Valve Society (HVS) 2025 Annual Meeting, held in Cairo from 16–19 April. This prestigious event brought together global leaders in heart valve innovation, regenerative medicine, and tissue engineering, and we were honoured to contribute to the scientific programme.
Our Founder and Director of Research, Professor Sir Magdi Yacoub, delivered a keynote lecture exploring the clinical translation of tissue-engineered heart valve models. His presentation highlighted pioneering data generated at the Institute’s Heart Science Centre in Harefield, underscoring our continued commitment to advancing translational research.
Dr Najma Latif, Senior Research Fellow at the Magdi Yacoub Institute, presented her lecture titled:
“Adipogenesis and Neurogenesis in the Normal and Tissue Engineered Pulmonary Valve – Functional Implications.”
Her talk examined the emerging understanding of cell differentiation processes in valve biology and their relevance to engineered constructs.
We are grateful to be part of such a dynamic and collaborative international community, united in the mission to improve outcomes in heart valve disease through scientific discovery and innovation.
